Thanksgiving...Ahhh one of my favorite times of the year. It seems nowadays we forget about Thanksgiving... We have Halloween and then BOOM Christmas decorations, movies and commercials everywhere! They advertise Black Friday, gift shopping, decorations, lights, buy buy buy, more more more. That is what the advertisers want you to focus on this holiday season but in reality, the Lord wants you to slow down and take time for Thanks and giving. Did you know that Thanksgiving became a holiday when Abraham Lincoln asked America to take a day of silence and come together to pray for the divided nation and everything that was going on during that era? My pastor said that last week. I didn't know that is when it officially started. Sure, we know the story of the pilgrims and the sharing of a meal, but the holiday is not about eating, its about being thankful and gathering to pray as a country, as a family etc. It's a time to reflect on all the things that we have been blessed with as Americans, as sons and daughters of the Lord. A time to get together with your family and share a meal, count your blessings, pray, thank the Lord almighty. This season don't rush into things. Take a moment, a day in fact, to step back from everything and appreciate it all. Really look and see the world, the people around you, the things, the blessings. Don't just look with your eyes. Really SEE! Remember Thanksgiving and think about our God above and among us. Tell someone you love them. Give back. Don't skip the best day of the year!
And yes, go run a Thanksgiving day 5k and burn some of those turkey calories:)
Again,
God Bless and Be safe this Thanksgiving holiday!
